Formals & First Looks

Tradition

So....did you know that way back in the dark ages, marriages were more of a business deal between families rather than a story about love? Well, they were! It was considered highly unorthodox for the bride and groom to even meet or see each other before the wedding. There was a fear that the groom would not want to marry the bride if he found her unattractive or unappealing.

Over the years that tradition turned into a 'superstition' and it was considered bad luck to see each other before the bride's reveal as she walks down the isle. More and more photo-lovin' couples are kicking this superstition to the curb and enjoying a first look, or even a formal session before-hand. There's a LOT of positives to doing this and I'll share some of those in this section.

This photo is from a couple who chose to do a 'formal' session from one of my packages. We were both VERY glad they chose to do this because on the actual wedding day, things were running VERY late and we ran out of time to get many shots (which is pretty typical in most cases).
